The purpose of celebrating Cultural Day is to promote solidarity and provide the students with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of cultural diversity and to learn to live together. In order to promote greater racial harmony and tolerance, the children were told to dress in their traditional costumes. They shared facts about the traditions of their homeland and the rich customs different countries have to offer. The school truly looked like a global village with children representing countries such as Pakistan, India, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Brunei and Korea to name a few.
Students had arranged various food stalls to represent cuisines of their own, and other, countries as a way to delight the taste buds. The colourful spectacle of national food, currencies, flags and dresses added to the essence of the day. At the end, national anthems were sung to promote solidarity and infuse a sense of pride in everyone’s heart.
